Chug Interviews

We spent two days interviewing some other chugs around camp. We interviewed bishul (cooking) and omanut (arts and crafts). Omanut includes art, jewelry, and ceramics. Below are our questions and answers from the interviews.

Eshed: What do you learn in bishul?
Camper: We learn how to cook, it's fun.

Eshed: What is the best thing that you have made so far?
Camper: Red velvet cupcakes!

Eshed: How long have you been working here?
Marcy (Cooking Specialist): 18 years.

Dalia: What do you like most about cooking?
Camper: I like to cook and bake.

Dalia: What is your favorite thing to make?
Camper: Challah.

Dalia: Who taught you these recipes?
Marcy: My mom and I grew up cooking.

Dalia: What spices do you use the most often?
Marcy: Cinnamon, salt, and pepper.

Eshed: Why did you choose art as your chug?
Camper: My friends said it was really fun and I like art.

Dalia: What do you think about art?
Camper: Its awesome and so much fun!
Dalia: What is your favorite part about art?
Camper: It's really relaxing.

Eshed: What do you like the most about the jewelry chug?
Camper: In jewelry you can express yourself in different ways.

Eshed: How many years have you been teaching jewelry.
Barbara (Jewelry specialist): 20 years, and it's the best job in the world.

Dalia: What do you like about jewelry?
Camper: Get to hang out in air conditioned room and hang out with my friends


Dalia: How many piecies of jewelry did you make and for who did you make them?
Camper: I made 4 peices of jewlelery. I made it for my mom, both of my sisters, and my girlfriend.

Dalia: How did you learn so many techniques in jewelry?
Barbara: I taught myself.

Eshed: What are you making right now in ceramics?
Camper: A turtle

Eshed: How many years have you been teaching ceramics?
Teena (Ceramics specialist): This is my 4th year teaching ceramics at Camp Ramah.
